Veterinary Nurse Competitive salary- £26,000-£31,000+ FTE

Be part of an exceptional practice at The Veterinary Hospital, Lincoln! We’re on the lookout for an RVN or final year nursing student to join our talented team. If you thrive in an environment where excellence is the norm, then you’ll feel right at home with us.

We are a proudly independent, 100% small animal practice working from a purpose-built hospital and supported by our branch at Skellingthorpe. Our dedicated team of talented nurses is the heart and soul of our practice, driven by a shared passion for providing top-tier care to our patients, while offering nothing less than an excellent client experience.

We’re committed to continuously improving our services and so we are ready to expand our range of nurse clinics. Whether you’re an experienced RVN, clinical coach or a final year nursing student eager to learn and grow, there’s a place for you on our rota.

This is an extra role rather than a replacement so we are very open with how these hours could work. We understand the importance of work-life balance, which is why we aim to be flexible with working hours tailored to your lifestyle, whether you prefer to work longer shifts with more days off or shorter hours each day. We would be delighted to add a full- time nurse to the team but are equally happy for the job to be shared with a few nurses looking for part time hours.

Shift times vary Monday – Friday between the hours of 8am and 7pm. Nurses work 1 in every 7 Saturdays 8am-1pm, in exchange for the following Friday off.

We use Vets Now to cover our OOH provision but keep our inpatients on site and see any emergencies related to recent surgeries out of hours if required. We have separate night nurses on site looking after our inpatients from the day, on sleeping night shifts with 4 hourly inpatient checks. We ask our day nurses to take an even share in these nights if needed to cover the night nurses’ annual leave and sickness.

Supported by our Kennel Assistants, veterinary nurse duties include in-patient care, running client-facing clinics, running lab samples, dispensary tasks, assisting vets during examinations and surgeries, monitoring anaesthetics, performing radiography and maintaining high standards of practice cleanliness and equipment care.

Our comprehensive salary package includes a range of employee benefits such as:

  • Competitive salary with pay scale based on experience, reviewed annually
  • Excellent pension scheme with enhanced employer contributions
  • Bupa Health Insurance
  • Income Protection cover
  • RCVS fees paid
  • Generous CPD allowance and opportunities to take on certificates
  • Opportunities for progression, with pay increases awarded for taking on extra responsibilities
    • e.g. £800 annual supplement for those nurses with clinical coach responsibility
  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays
  • Cost price treatment for your pets
  • Summer and Christmas team parties
  • We promise to provide a supportive environment, with regular 1-2-1s with your line manager to check in and access to our employee assistance programme for additional support if
